The Most Popular Movie Cars

26 Oct

From the roadsters of the 60’s to the modern day sports cars driven in action movies, theaters have become a showcase for some of the coolest cars in history. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular movie cars from the big screen.

The Batmobile

The Batmobile has continuously evolved over the years as the character behind the wheel has evolved. During the early years of Batman, the Batmobile was an unrealistic, almost spaceship like car with a jet engine shooting fire on the back of it. However, over the years the vehicle has seen many versions displayed on the screen, including the most recent vehicle in the series of Batman movies starring Christian Bale. These movies gave the Batmobile a realistic vehicle look and feel as a sort of modified Army truck. Although not street legal, these vehicles can be purchased by Batman collectible enthusiasts. Recently, a replica of the 1960s Batmobile sold at an auction for over $200,000.

Ashton Martin Vanquish

The next series of movies that are associated with popular cars are the James Bond movies. Bond always drives the coolest cars packed with different gadgets made by a character named Q. The most popular Bond car, with different models, appearing in seven Bond films, is the Ashton Martin. Perhaps the most memorable of these cars was the Ashton Martin Vanquish driven during several movies in the late 90s and early 2000s. Ashton Martin Vanquish vehicles are considered collectible cars but are mass produced, selling at around $150,000 to $200,000.

More recently, Bond characters have been driving BMWs. The most memorable Bond BMW appeared in the film “Die Another Day” where Bond drove a BMW with reflective paint that allowed the car to be invisible. The BMW in that movie was the latest BMW Z4 roadster, a very popular car. BMW Z4 are all over the road and can range from $50,000 to $70,000.

Mitsubishi Eclipse

The final series of most popular movie cars is the cars featured in the Fast and the Furious. All of these cars are realistic, street-ready cars that are seen on the road every day. These cars are just modified to be as fast as possible for racing. Many of the modifications are illegal but it doesn’t change the fact that these cars are very cool looking. The most popular cars in the series of movies are Mitsubishi Eclipses and Honda Civics. Several other American muscle cars are featured in the films, particularly during the finale of the first movie where Vin Diesel’s character is driving a GTO.
